Personality:
Rita Skeeter is nosy and can persuade people to talk to her -- sometimes just by drawing them out, but more often by verbally overwhelming them. She's aggressive and not a good listener. It's not at all unusual for her to have a preconceived notion of how a story will go -- and what the interviewee will say. People who are familiar with her interviewing style (or newbies who are rapidly being swamped by it) will usually blurt out something -- ANYthing -- in a desperate attempt to inject at least a few words into the story that they actually said. She loves to stir up trouble and has only the sketchiest interest in right and wrong, as opposed to publicity and pay. Many people try to avoid her whenever possible.

Biography:
Rita was born in 1951, the daughter of wizarding parents. When she entered Hogwarts at 11, she was Sorted into Gryffindor, but spent little time with her housemates, preferring the company of Slytherins and the occasional Hufflepuff. After Hogwarts, she tended bar, mainly because she loved to hear gossip. Customers did not like her, however, and she didn't last long at any bartending job. Within two months of her Hogwarts graduation, she applied to Witch Weekly on a whim and was hired as an advice columnist. She soon became a success, catching the eye of The Daily Prophet, which offered her more money to come work for them in the same capacity. After a few months she made the leap to reporting. At first, she had trouble finding worthwhile stories, but one day, her articles came in sprinkled with exciting quotes and daring accusations. Nobody could figure out what had changed, but whatever it was, it sure sold...
